Services for Students

General Information

A single analog telephone line is included as part of your campus telephone service. There is one active line in each dormitory room and one in each bedroom in the apartment complexes. Students are responsible for supplying and maintaining their room telephone.

Each individual resident student is issued a Personal Security Code by AT&T College and University Solutions (ACUS) which is required to be dialed prior to making calls from dormitory or apartment complex rooms. Students are billed and are expected to make payments monthly to AT&T ACUS. More detailed information on long distance calling can be found at the ACUS web site. There is no charge for the setup and maintenance of your account.

Long distance service is provided by AT&T. The rates charged are competitive with the current marketplace. For dialing instructions, please click on the link provided.

Each incoming freshman resident student is assigned a four digit voice messaging mailbox. This mailbox number remains with the student throughout his or her entire career at Providence College. More detailed information is contained in the voice messaging page.

There is no charge for placing local calls in the metropolitan Providence and vicinity. Consult the Bell Atlantic white pages telephone directory for local exchanges.

Rhode Island is served by a single area code (401). However, there are exchanges within the state of Rhode Island which are subject to toll charges. Again, consult the the Bell Atlantic white pages telephone directory for these exchanges.
